I was deeply moved by ‘Remembering’ the work of figurative modern artist Arpita Singh. This visiting exhibition is the first presentation of her lifelong works outside of India. Born in 1937 in West Bengal, her works explore the experience of Indian women navigating themes of feminine sensuality, motherhood, vulnerability violence and the ageing female form. Vibrant colours and thick tactile strokes evoke a sense of intensity and wonder.
